Easter Time

SmileyCentral.com
As I think I told you previous, Steve is Eastern Orthodox and this coming Sunday is his Easter. So, over the next few days I'll be baking, cooking, and roasting. Right now I have an antipasto salad and two cakes (lemon poppy seed and a carrot cake) cooling so I thought I'd take a break before I went back in the kitchen. Tomorrow I have to dye eggs and do desserts leaving Saturday to bake bread and salads, and Sunday to do vegetables and meats. Tammie, would you believe I finally get to take down Easter decorations next week?

I have noticed something, every time I try and eat healthy a holiday creeps up on me, and I spend about 75% of the week in the kitchen. I haven't yet figured out how to cook and bake without tasting, darn it. I hope I just don't gain weight this week. I'll have a week off from holiday cooking then will have another Serbian family holiday on the May 6th, a catering job for the 24th, my father's birthday at the end of the May, and my nephew's wedding on June 7th. I think this is family sabotage. How does anyone diet and eat healthy when so many holidays center around food?

Dani, you have to do what you have to do, as long as you eat healthy in between you are good to go. Besides, when you have your kids, you will have no time to do all that for a while anyway :)

I just took my Easter decorations down this weekend..........It's very hard to lose weight and eat healthy when you have so many family gatherings centered around food. I completely understand this. My family does this......and if i cook my part and don't eat their food they are really hurt. So i just eat very small portions and make up for it later on. It's hard though!!!!

I knew ya'll would understand. I can't believe I have to cook for two more events over the next few weeks, the one next week is a big Serbian holiday which will include a pig roast and all the trimmings for probably 100 people. Since I married into this family and can cook I end up spending alot of time doing just that.
